Dr. Rachel Caravella has been a part of the Tisch Hospital Consultation – Liaison Psychiatry service for 6 years. Currently, she works part-time on the inpatient C-L service and part-time in the NYU Faculty Group Practice doing outpatient telepsychiatry. She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Caravella went on to complete her Adult Psychiatry Residency training, CL Psychiatry Fellowship and Women's Mental Health Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center / NYS Psychiatric Institute, where she also served as Chief Resident during her PGY4 year.
She is a passionate clinical educator and mentors and supervises trainees at all levels. Dr. Caravella’s clinical interests include the psychiatric care of critically medically ill patients, delirium, transplant psychiatry, psychotherapeutic interventions, legal and ethical issues in C-L psychiatry, reproductive psychiatry, and women’s mental health. Her research interests include developing Tele-CL models, trainee mental health and morale, quality improvement, health disparities, and advancements in medical education. She has presented workshops, case conferences, oral papers, and posters on a variety of clinical and academic topics at several national meetings including APA, AAP, APM, & AADPRT. Dr. Caravella lives in Briarcliff Manor with her husband and two young children.
