MSTP Student
Medical University of South Carolina
After completing a bachelor's and master's degree in Physiology and Developmental Biology, I began my training to become a physician-scientist in the MSTP program at the Medical University of South Carolina. My initial work in mitochondrial bioenergetics is currently being applied to understanding the neuropathology of Alzheimer’s, ceramides, and cancer. As I've studied the connections between these disorders, I have been fascinated by drug metabolism (especially opioids in cancer treatment), which led to our recent work reviewing the effects of ketamine on opioid tolerance.
