Division Chair - Hospital Medicine
Tufts University - School of Medicine
I am a graduate of the prestigious University of Cauca School of Medicine in Colombia where I specialized in Internal Medicine. I expanded my training completing an Internal Medicine specialty at Mount Sinai School of Medicine-Englewood Hospital. In 2000, I established myself in Massachusetts, dedicating my career to in-patient Medicine. I devoted my first few years of practice to Boston University, and for the last 12 years I have served at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
In 2017, I was named Chairperson for the Division of Hospital Medicine at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center leading various clinical and administrative leadership roles. I have been able to demonstrate my ongoing commitment to enhance direct patient care through innovative methods to standardize care and systems improvement that have been an important focus of my career. In this arena, I have spearheaded the implementation of Unit based care for our Institution, that has provided the foundation for other quality and performance improvement practices, including standardization of Multidisciplinary care for our patients with a striking positive impact in the quality of care provided by our Hospital Medicine division. I remain devoted to the mission of enhancing the quality of care of our patients paired with effective systems that allow the progress and well-being of the division of Hospital Medicine at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
