Jacob R. Weiss, M.D., is a fourth-year resident physician and Chief Resident in psychiatry at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia, where he was awarded the Frank S. Trani Memorial School of Medicine Scholarship for merit in psychiatry. He is the recent recipient of the 2022 ACLP Trainee Travel Award. His current clinical interests include the intersection of medicine and psychiatry, psychopharmacology in the medical setting, neuropsychiatry, pulmonary psychiatry, catatonia, and schizophrenia spectrum illness. He is a member of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and American Psychiatric Association. He recently published an article on anxiety and depression in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and has presented at local and national conferences on topics of pharmacological treatment of psychogenic polydipsia, lithium-induced extrapyramidal symptoms, clozapine and electroconvulsive therapy, and comorbid schizophrenia and seizure disorder. After residency, he plans to complete a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry while continuing to pursue his research interests and engage in medical student education.
