Adnan Syed, MD, is a fellow in the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry program at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Clinically, his interests include embedded and collaborative care models, psycho-oncology, and neuropsychiatry. He has an additional interest in the use of metaphor in the communication of models of mental illness between providers as well as with patients. He is involved in trainee mentorship and teaching, and in recognition of this has received the Residency Training Program Teaching Award and the Edwin F. Alston Award for Leadership in Psychiatry. He received his medical degree from the UCSF School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate education at Stanford University. In addition to his clinical interests, he enjoys playing the guitar and violin, traveling to Southeast Asia (where he spent much of his childhood), listening to ambient music, and exploring botanical gardens.
