Nicole Gulkis, PsyD, is a Psychology Postdoctoral Resident at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her residency in Outpatient Mental Health Interprofessional Care focuses on Addiction, Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and Geropsychology, with a specialization in assessment and treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders and PTSD. She completed her Pre-doctoral Clinical Psychology Internship training at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) Department of Psychiatry, with a focus on health psychology. Over the course of eight years, Nicole has worked across various behavioral health settings, including substance withdrawal management and outpatient methadone maintenance treatment. Nicole is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in Pennsylvania. Her dissertation examined the degree to which Law Enforcement Officers’ belief in the disease model of addiction, knowledge on opioid overdose and naloxone administration, concern of contracting COVID-19, influence the likelihood of administering naloxone. She is passionate about treating individuals with acute/chronic medical conditions and opioid use disorder from a harm reduction perspective.
