Dr. Bienvenu is currently the Judy Yin Shih, PhD Professor in Anxiety Disorders at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed medical school at LSU in Shreveport then came to Johns Hopkins for psychiatry residency, a fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology, and a PhD in clinical investigation. Dr. Bienvenu’s early work focused on the epidemiology and genetic epidemiology of anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder, and relationships to personality traits. For the last 18 years, he has collaborated with colleagues in critical care medicine to assess and improve long-term psychiatric outcomes after critical illness and intensive care. Dr. Bienvenu directs both the anxiety disorders program and the inpatient consultation-liaison psychiatry program at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
