Dr. Rao was born and raised in New Jersey. Graduating with honors, he earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Bio-Psychology from the University of Michigan. He obtained his Medical Doctorate from St. George's University School of Medicine. Through his internship in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, he learned a great deal about the pathophysiology of the human body and the corresponding challenging treatments required to improve patients' lives.
Furthering his medical expertise, Dr. Rao completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. He graduated with distinguished honors in Neurological and Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.
As a Fellow at Mt. Sinai College of Medicine, Dr. Rao specialized in Interventional Pain Medicine. He went on to work as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, educating other fellows and residents.
Dr. Rao is a vocal advocate for members of the armed forces and military veterans. He was fortunate enough to work at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas. Dr. Rao assisted in enhancing and developing the pain clinic designated for the active-duty soldiers with war-related chronic pain symptoms. He has developed advanced and effective pain management techniques and treatment plans for his patients suffering from these injuries.
Dr Rao continues to innovate interventional pain management by incorporating behavioral and mental health diagnostics and therapeutic treatment options to improve patient access and collaborative care while working at Pain and Spine Specialists of Maryland and Gemini Health.
