Nancy A. Crowell, Ph.D., adjunct associate professor, Georgetown School of Nursing and Health Studies, is a quantitative researcher with a focus on evaluation research. She has been involved in evaluation of tobacco cessation programs, preschool education, and training programs in health care delivery and education. She has developed questionnaires; interviewed patients, service providers, and teachers; evaluated children and classrooms; analyzed focus groups; and analyzed data on myriad subjects. As research faculty at Georgetown University, she served as co-investigator of several federally funded educational evaluation projects. She also taught the quantitative sections of research methods to undergraduate and graduate nursing students and assisted NHS students engaged in research projects with their quantitative analyses. Since becoming adjunct faculty in 2017, she serves as a quantitative analysis resource to both faculty and students in the School of Nursing and Health Studies. She also has consulted on a number of research projects, including evaluation of long-term outcomes of preschool programs in Roanoke, Virginia. She tutors undergraduate and graduate students in statistics, applied data analysis, and research methods. Prior to Georgetown, Dr. Crowell spent 13 years at the National Research Council, directing studies on violence against women, child labor, and juvenile justice, and staffing the first National Academies of Science study on climate change. Dr. Crowell also has experience in public opinion polling and a Masters in audiology, specializing in pediatric audiology.
