Dr Slocum attended undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated from medical school at Marshall University in her native state of West Virginia. She completed her intern year in adult psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center before completing adult residency and CL fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While there, she pursued additional training in emergency and reproductive psychiatry. She worked for one year as an embedded psychiatrist within a large academic emergency department before moving to New Hampshire with her family and joining the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth as an Assistant Professor with a clinical appointment at the New Hampshire state psychiatric hospital. Her areas of interest remain emergency and reproductive psychiatry, as well as agitation and persistent mental illness. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading, cheering on the Mountaineers in sports, and spending time with her family and pets.
