Medical Director Medicine in Psychiatry Unit
University of Rochester Medical Center
Rochester, New York
Dr. Wittink is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine. Her research efforts are driven by her clinical experiences navigating the often separate silos of medical and psychiatric care.
Since 2015, Dr. Wittink has been the medical director of the Inpatient Medicine in Psychiatry Unit, which uses a multidisciplinary approach to care for patients with acute medical needs in the context of psychiatric conditions. Working as part of a high functioning team led her to consider the impact team-based care can have on both proximal and distal health outcomes. She is currently building research infrastructure to study and build interventions utilizing integrated medical-psychiatric units. Dr. Wittink is also the chair of the newly formed National Medical-Psychiatry Unit (MPU) Consortium and she is the director of the Laboratory of Integration Services for Complex Needs (LISCN).
