Dr. Kugler earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston before completing a General Psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Austin, TX. He then completed C-L Psychiatry fellowship training at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Currently he serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Training Director of the C-L Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin-Dell Medical School program. His clinical interests are in proactive C-L Psychiatry, Catatonia, neuropsychiatry, Electroconvulsive Therapy and delivery of psychotherapy in the medical hospital. Academic interests include optimizing detection and treatment of catatonia, the catatonia-delirium interface, C-L curriculum development, and the influence of systems-based interventions on patient care.
