Dr. Owen completed both medical school and residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin, as well as fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. She holds joint academic appointments at the Medical College of Wisconsin: Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Owen directs the innovative Emergency Psychiatry service and works clinically as the first embedded psychiatrist in the Emergency Department at Froedtert Hospital, the primary adult teaching affiliate for the Medical College of Wisconsin and only Level I Trauma Center in the region. Collaborating closely with Emergency Medicine faculty, Dr. Owen is leading programmatic development, clinical initiatives, and curriculum enhancement. She also serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Site Administrator at the new Mental Health Emergency Center in Milwaukee, WI, a freestanding emergency psychiatric facility, uniquely designed as a joint venture between Milwaukee County and Milwaukee’s four health systems: Advocate Aurora Health, Ascension Wisconsin, Children’s Wisconsin, and Froedtert Health.
