Dr. Elizabeth Lowdermilk, Associate Director of Service for the Department of Behavioral Health and Lead Integrated Care Psychiatrist at the Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC) will describe the development, implementation and expansion of the DH Integrated Behavioral Health model. The DH IBH team provides integrated mental health and substance abuse services in 11 primary care, 3 pediatric, 3 women's care and 2 specialty clinics, serving over 160,000 outpatients. Dr. Lowdermilk will identify key factors, including cultural, financial and systemic, that must be considered in the development and implementation of integrated care programs. Highlighting the goals of improving the usual treatment of mental health conditions in primary care and expanding the integrated care workforce, Dr. Lowdermilk will review the educational opportunities for multiple learner types in integrated care settings.
