April Russo is a Deputy Chief in the Eastern District of Virginia. She previously served as the Project Safe Childhood (PSC) Coordinator and Deputy Chief of the District of Columbia's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Unit, as well as the Deputy Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, the PSC Coordinator, and the Human Trafficking Coordinator for the Eastern District of Michigan. April has presented on child exploitation at several national and international conferences, to include Canada’s Multidisciplinary Training Conference to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse, the BOLT Conference, and the National Law Enforcement Training on Child Exploitation. April coauthored Prosecuting Sex Trafficking Cases in the Wake of the Backpage Takedown and the World of Cryptocurrency, published in May of 2021.
