This workshop, designed for sex offender registry personnel and law enforcement, will provide an opportunity to learn about the U.S. Marshals Service and its enforcement of International Megan's Law (IML). The presentation will detail the intricacies of IML and how this 2016 federal legislation is cutting down acts of child sex tourism across the world. Additionally, the capabilities of the National Sex Offender Targeting Center (NSOTC) and the impactful resources the center can offer to law enforcement will be highlighted for attendees.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) pursuant to the passage of the Adam Walsh Act and International Megan’s Law.
Upon completion of this course, participants will discover the resources provided by the U.S. Marshals: National Sex Offender Targeting Center (NSOTC), the Angel Watch Center (AWC), and how these resources can assist their law enforcement agencies.
Learn the duties and requirements of sex offenders pertaining to international travel and the United States Marshals Service’s role in International Megan’s Law investigations.
