Court preparation is invaluable for children required to testify in court. The purpose of court preparation is to assist child witnesses in their ability to testify credibly and effectively in a courtroom; however, few child protection professionals recognize that court preparation begins as early as the initial outcry or pre-interview screening. This session will discuss the importance of each stage of the investigative process in preparing children for court and will provide concrete examples of victim advocacy, courtroom modifications, and child preparation techniques.
