Attend this workshop and learn about a proactive community approach to educating, empowering, and protecting our children from predatory violence in the world today. Through the proactive leadership, educational and therapeutic approach of the Guadalupe County Children's Advocacy Center and their community partners they have united to protect their children in skill-based prevention education. Join us as we share, how together with a "radical" approach and community commitment, you can help protect and enhance your children's resiliency from predatory violence or victimization in their lives. In this block, we will share with you the tools, model, and plan as well as potential challenges and success. Together we can make it harder for those predators who are determined to hurt or victimize our children!
Learning Objectives:
Each attendee will acquire a working knowledge of the possibilities of uniting a community to protect and empower our children in the world today - one based on proactive personal skill development. This effort is shared and supported by Children's Advocacy Centers, Schools, and Law Enforcement Partners. It doesn't take a village - it takes us all.
Each attendee will understand the core root of the problem of school safety and how to prevent future victimization through personal empowerment and personal skill development for children. This is accomplished through a framework of community support that will allow children to recognize, avoid, resist, and if necessary escape violence, harm, or victimization in their daily lives. A change that matters!
Each attendee will be introduced to a community approach utilizing a model for creating safer schools and reducing mental health challenges that are created by victimization and violence in our children's lives.
Each attendee will become aware of the distinct difference between the current climate of most schools ("We don't allow violence, bullying, and victimization in our schools.") and a climate of "Zero Victimization" (No one gets hurt here."). With schools and communities that are dedicated to improving school culture and climate, this approach means an environment where our children are safer and parents are assured of their children's safety.
