This case study will detail the criminal investigation of Dontarious "50" Scott, a YouTuber and freestyle scooter rider, convicted of sexually abusing children he met at skate parks across North Texas. The case began when an eleven-year-old victim's parent noticed sexually explicit photos on the victim's phone and made a report. The first step in the investigation involved going undercover by assuming the victim’s social media account to continue the conversation with “50.” The lengthy investigation ultimately led the detective to uncover the abuse of over a dozen adolescent male victims ranging from online exploitation to contact offenses. This case study will detail the difficulties in investigating the sexual abuse of male victims prior to the disclosure of abuse, and the impact of the perpetrator's grooming, not only on the victims and their families but the community as a whole. The presenters will also demonstrate the importance of ongoing family advocacy intervention with victims and their families. Recordings of interrogations, Scott's interview with the media, and forensic interview techniques utilizing evidence collected will be provided throughout this presentation.
