This workshop will examine case law impacting state and federal sex offender registration and notification laws across the country, including the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA.) The presenters will focus on some of the more highly litigated aspects of state and federal sex offender registration and notification laws, including, for example, challenges to juvenile sex offender registration and violation of ex post facto laws, and identify issues that will likely continue to be litigated in the future.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to identify case law impacting state and federal sex offender registration and notification laws across the country, including the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify areas of law that impact sex offender registration and notification and that have been subject to litigation
Upon completion, participants will be able to better understand the factors that drive judicial decision-making in registration and notification-related cases.
