The investigation of Tel James Boam began in 2019 when his wife found photos of her daughter showering on her husband's phone. When initially interviewed, the teen victim had no knowledge of the photos but clearly disclosed offender grooming behavior. In the year that followed, the teen victim had a number of triggering events followed up with forensic interviews that provided more detail of the grooming tactics and invasive nature of abuse. Boam went through three attorneys, rejected a state court plea agreement, and ultimately was guilty in federal court of seventeen counts of child exploitation. This case study highlights classic grooming behavior and why successive interviews were necessary to aid the victim's delayed disclosure.
