This presentation details the investigation of a KiK Messenger private group named, “House of 1000 Littles” by the GBI and HSI. This group had fifty members who actively traded image/video files and links to copious amounts of CSAM (infant/torture.) The group administrator was a registered sex offender in Texas named Terence Dixon, aka “Devilman Crybaby.” After a year of daily UC chatting in the group, identifying group members, online research, and coordinating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, the group was dismantled. Group members were prosecuted in federal court under Conspiracy to Advertise Child Pornography. The presenters will discuss how a GBI Agent, thinking outside the box, made this case possible. They will also discuss the many issues that were encountered in this case, including the daily recording of group activity, chatting, identification/deconfliction of the fifty members through IDS/NCMEC, managing legal processes, and online research, and recording of cloud links. This presentation will cover the challenges and lessons learned from investigating/documenting a large online group, and ultimately building relationships through collaboration.
