At one time digital crime scenes were overlooked, however, digital evidence is almost always available in every case. Agencies have dedicated units to collect digital evidence such as digital forensics. What happens when the device is not available for investigators to seize? This workshop is designed to teach investigators how to find open-source tools and information to use in their investigations and turn it into probable cause to obtain business records. This workshop will teach attendees how to conduct open-source intelligence searches, contact exploitation searches, and how to pivot from the information collected using Open Source Intelligence techniques to obtain legal requests for their cases. It is highly recommended that attendees bring their laptops or tablets to participate in this interactive presentation so they can follow along online with the instructor. It is suggested that attendees have the following software on their devices: SnapChat, TrueCaller, CashApp, Venmo, Paypal, and Google Pay.
