Coordinating and facilitating the multidisciplinary team in a large, urban children's advocacy center is both exciting and challenging. Each member of the team brings his or her own experiences, biases, personality, coping skills, and baggage that can promote or detract from the work of the team. While coordinating the MDT, you must be keenly tuned to the trajectory of the team and any barriers to its important work. The presenters admit they have made mistakes along the way, but they strive to work as a seamless team to bring about safety, justice, and healing for children and families. In this presentation, the presenters will share some of those experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly, and provide attendees with tools to effectively coordinate their MDT.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will have increased knowledge of how to build relationships in an environment that fosters collaboration and communication.
Upon completion, participants will have a better understanding of how doing things the way they've always been done can be detrimental to the advancement of the MDT.
Participants will learn about the good, the bad, and the ugly that come along with coordinating any size MDT.
