This presentation will discuss how an attempted murder investigation would lead to the use of a multi-faceted approach; from processing the crime scene to the use of the forensic interview by detectives of a four-year-old child to the fight to continue to process evidence after the death of the suspect, to the difficult road to recovery by the victim.

Upon completion, the participant will be able to express the importance of taking crime scene photographs while EMS is on the scene, to accurately portray the injuries to a victim as they were found upon the arrival of the first officers or investigators.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize the unique behavior patterns of a child sex offender and use that information to develop further leads in the case.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to articulate the importance of the LEGAL discovery of trace and associative evidence in a sexual assault crime scene.
