The dynamics of family-facilitated child sex trafficking presents differently from other types of trafficking and hold diverse complexities. When victims are younger and do not exhibit the same red flag behaviors commonly recognized as indicators of sex trafficking, family-facilitated child sex trafficking may be overlooked. This workshop will examine these differences to support familial sex trafficking identification. This session will also study the intersection of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and minor victims of sex trafficking. Building on the information provided, and trends gathered from service providers, presenters will also delve into the service needs and how to better support victims of family-facilitated sex trafficking.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will understand how family-facilitated CST differs from other types of sex trafficking and identify red flags of family-facilitated CST.
Participants will be able to explain the link between high ACE scores and a child/youth’s vulnerability to being a sex trafficking victim.
Participants will understand how service needs differ for victims of family-facilitated sex trafficking.
