The social justice events that have occurred over the last couple of years have ignited Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) to become a more diverse and inclusive workplace, for staff, clients, and MDT partners. As organizations become more aware of culture, gender, religion, etc., the need for additional training across all population levels becomes increasingly important to deliver creative and effective services to all victims of crime. This workshop will teach participants how to create a culture of belonging and inclusivity within your agency, take home practical tools to promote diversity in the workplace, and how to address cultural barriers with MDT partners, while still maintaining a healthy working relationship. Participants will gain knowledge and understand the differences between diversity and inclusion, become aware of unconscious bias, recognize and address microaggressions, and apply these elements in a CAC. Additionally, they will learn effective strategies to receive buy-in from board members and upper management and be provided with practical implementations of diversity, equity, and inclusion in a CAC setting (clients and MDT partners.)
