This presentation will discuss how the stress response presents in children when trauma (specifically abuse/neglect) has occurred acutely or chronically. The goal of this presentation is to provide law enforcement, child protection workers, prosecutors, and CAC professionals, with insight into effective ways that they can assist a child in reducing their stress response and preserving their mental health throughout the investigation process. By doing this, the outcomes are better for both the investigation as well as long-term effects on the child. This presentation will be unique as this presentation introduces case examples from a law enforcement and DCS perspective as well.
