This presentation will briefly lay a foundation for understanding the differences between children with problematic sexual behaviors and children who are sexually aggressive. Research efforts to establish normative sexual behaviors in childhood, sexual development throughout childhood, and factors to be considered when determining if a child's sexual behaviors are problematic or abusive will be discussed. The presentation will focus extensively on children who exhibit sexually aggressive behaviors and need specialized care. Leading treatment modalities, resource guides, and current research programs will be explored in detail.
