MCG was founded in 2008 by Scott J. Modell, Ph.D. with a mission of educating professionals on how to communicate and work with individuals with disabilities as well as provide behavior management treatment, consultation and training. Since that time, the company has grown to; develop multiple protocols, work nationally and internationally to train and educate professionals, provide expert consultation in the areas of abuse and neglect, and advocate for people with disabilities. MCG focuses on educating professionals from multidisciplinary teams on every aspect of an investigation and giving team members the skills to effectively interview, investigate and prosecute crimes against individuals with disabilities. MCG accomplishes its mission by conducting full-day and multiple-day training and providing sessions at conferences. Notably, MCG has developed a four-day advanced forensic interviewing certificate curriculum – Forensic Interviewing for Individuals with Disabilities (FIND) to assist interviewers in advancing their skills of interviewing in the most developmentally appropriate, non-leading, non-suggestive, legally defensible way possible. This includes an adapted interviewing protocol specific to interviewing individuals who do not speak or who have been classified as “non-verbal”.
