Ira Cheifetz, DMD is a Past Chair of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and received his degree in 1974. After completing a General Practice Residency, he received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and subsequently practiced full scope OMS in central New Jersey for 35 years.
An active participant in organized dentistry, Dr. Cheifetz sat on and chaired multiple committes while an active member of AAOMS. A member of the AAOMS House of Delegates, he was elected to the AAOMS Board in 2003 as the Treasurer and served as President of the Association in 2010. In 2012 he became a surveyor for the AAAHC. He sat on and chaired multiple committees for AAAHC. In 2013 Dr. Cheifetz was appointed as an AAOMS representative to the AAAHC Board. He served as the Chair of the Board in 2020.
