David Hunt MSN, RN, VA-BC, CRNI
Over the last 44 years, Dave has witnessed vast changes in healthcare, and his experience and opportunities to enhance patient care have been numerous. He graduated in 1978 with BSN from Wright State University followed by a MSN degree in Nursing Administration in 1989. His career began in Newborn nursery followed by 33 years of Nursing Administration in roles ranging from Administrative Coordinator to Assistance Director. While in the role of ADON, he developed a Vascular Access Program and developed his proficiencies in PICC placement. He has worked with Genentech, Bard Access, and Interrad Medical as an educator and consultant. During a brief period of retirement, Dave realized the “Vascular Access Void” and lack of patient contact was painful. He “re-enlisted” and is currently employed as a Vascular Access Specialist at IUHealth Ball Memorial Hospital where he brings the newest technologies and evidence-based practice to the vascular access patient. Additionally, Dave has a daughter Bethany, whom also is a dual board-certified vascular access specialist, and a loyal co-worker! Beyond his professional career, Dave has farmed for over 40 years. He has also created and ran businesses associated with the pet industry and art & framing. Currently, he resides on an 80-acre farm with his wife Deborah, 2 dogs “Alex” a French bulldog, “Josie” a shipoo, and 2 parrots “Star” and “BeeBee”.
