Lawrence S. Hakim, MD, FACS, is the Inaugural Craig M. Zinn Distinguished Chair of Men's Health, Chairman of the Department of Urology and Director of the Center of Surgical Services at Cleveland Clinic Florida, in Weston, FL and holds Clinical Associate Professorships of Surgery (Urology) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH and Ross University Medical School. Dr. Hakim is an internationally recognized leader in male and female sexual medicine and surgery, hypogonadism, male infertility, and prosthetics; the performance of complex penile implant surgeries; the medical and surgical management of Peyronie’s disease, and the management of male incontinence. He is Director of the Postgraduate Fellowship Program in Sexual Medicine, Andrology, and Prosthetics at CCF. Dr. Hakim has served as primary or co-investigator on multiple clinical research trials and has published numerous scientific articles, academic book chapters, and abstracts. He has served on the Editorial Boards of various academic journals and a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals. He earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in New York and his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and residencies in surgery and urology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed his post-graduate fellowship in sexual medicine, infertility and andrology at Boston University School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Urological Association. He is Past-President of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA), and served on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons (SUPS) and is Past-President of the Florida Urologic Society and Past-President of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America Foundation.
