Francesco Montorsi is Professor of Urology and Chairman of the Department of Urology at University Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. In the year 2015 Prof. Montorsi was appointed as Adjunct Secretary General – Science by the European Association of Urology. Prof. Montorsi received his medical degree from the University of Milan School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in Urology. In addition, he completed a residency in Andrology at the University of Pisa School of Medicine. Prof. Montorsi’s major research interests have included several urological areas with a specific focus on pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, urologic oncology, benign prostatic hyperplasia and sexual dysfunctions. As a widely published author, Prof. Montorsi has written and coauthored more than 1859 peer reviewed journal articles according to PubMed and several book chapters. At present Prof. Montorsi’s H-Index is 128. His most recent contributions to the literature have been on the management of urological malignancies, sexual dysfunctions and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Prof. Montorsi’s articles have been published in many prestigious journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of Clinical Oncology, European Heart Journal, The Journal of Sexual Medicine, European Journal of Cancer, and European Urology. He is a reviewer for The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA, The Journal of Urology, Urology, Urological Research, British Journal of Urology International, International Journal of Impotence Research, World Journal of Urology, The Journal of Sexual Medicine and European Urology. Between January 2006 and December 2013 Prof. Montorsi served as Editor-in-Chief of European Urology (2016 impact factor: 16.265), the official Journal of the European Association of Urology.
In 1998 Prof. Montorsi received the Matula Award, assigned yearly by the EAU to the Urologist younger than 40 years of age with the best scientific production.
