John W. Davis received his B.S in Biology at Davidson College in North Carolina in 1990, and Medical Degree at the University of Virginia in 1994. His postgraduate training was extensive, including residency and basic science fellowship at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine, Norfolk, VA. Additional fellowships included Urology Oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas, and laparoscopic surgery at Charité Hospital, Berlin, Germany.
Dr. Davis is a Professor of Urology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston Texas, where he holds titles of Director of Urosurgical Prostate Cancer Program and Quality Improvement Officer for Urology. His leadership positions in professional societies have included President of the Young Urologic Oncologists (2003-2005), President of the Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons (2010-2012), Program Chair for the North American Robotic Urology Symposium 2020, and President of the South Central Section of the AUA 2021-2022. For the American Urological Association, he serves on the Urologic Video Education Committee, co-hosts the International Prostate Forum, and teaches post-graduate courses in prostate cancer. He was the inaugural Online Content Editor for AUA Publications 2016-2022, and the inaugural Editor in Chief for BJUI Compass 2019-2022. Currently he is focused on the new position as inaugural Editor in Chief for the new AUA journal--Journal of Urology Open Plus.
