Dr. A. Karim Kader MD, PhD is Professor of Urology and Director of Urologic Oncology at the University of California San Diego. He is one of the most experienced surgeons in the United States performing robot-assisted radical cystectomy and urinary diversion for patients with bladder cancer. He received his undergraduate, doctorate of philosophy, and medical degrees from the University of British Columbia and completed his urology residency at the University of Toronto. He completed a urologic oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Kader holds several patents for genetic discoveries and medical devices that hold significant promise for enhancing the care of patients at risk for end with urologic malignancies. He is the principal investigator for numerous clinical research trials and has published extensively. His research interests include genetic markers of risk and outcome in urologic cancer.
