Dr. William A. Ricke, PhD, is a professor in the department of urology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) and the UWMF Professor of Urologic Research. Dr. Ricke’s leadership in urology field includes serving as the PI and Director of the University of Wisconsin’s George M. O’Brien Research Center of Excellence, Senior Leadership of the UW Carbone Cancer Center, and the Director of Urologic Research at UW-Madison. He has also served on a number of international and national boards and committees in urologic research including the Society of Basic Urologic Research (President Elect) and the American Urological Association (RECCC). His research has focused on hormone action and stromal-epithelial interactions in development, homeostasis, and pathogenesis of the lower urinary tract. He has contributed seminal research in the area of benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, animal modeling, and endocrine disruption. His research goals focus on translation of basic science into clinical strategies and treatments.
