Darren J. Baker, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He directs the Transgenic and Knockout Mouse Core Facility and co-directs the Paul F. Glenn Laboratories for Biology of Aging at Mayo Clinic. For nearly 20 years, he has studied how senescent cells that accumulate in vivo contribute to aging and age-related diseases, with emphasis on cancer and neurodegenerative disease. Using mouse models, he has demonstrated the causal relationship between senescent cell accumulation and dysfunction.
