University of Rochester Medical Center
Lauren M. Shepard, MS, is a Biomedical Engineer in the Simulation and Innovation Research Lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She attended the University at Buffalo for her Bachelor's and Master's of Science studying Biomedical Engineering, with a research focus on medical applications of 3D printing. Her current work focuses on 3D printing to create patient-specific non-biohazardous hydrogel models for training, education, and robotic surgical simulation. Current projects include validation of a hydrogel model and system for benchtop simulation of Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), segmentation and model development for partial nephrectomy simulation, and manufacturing hydrogel models for robotic-assisted radical nerve-sparing prostatectomy simulation. Previous research involved development of a benchtop system for flow experiments with 3D printed patient-specific cardiovascular models for CT-FFR validation in collaboration with Canon Medical Systems.
