Loren Jean Smith, B.A., is a fourth-year medical student at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. Between her third and fourth years of medical school, she completed a year-long Urologic Fellowship in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety with Prisma Health Urology Midlands, Columbia, SC. Research interests include data-driven improvement, new urologic technologies, and minimally invasive surgery. Throughout medical school, she has dedicated her extracurricular time to improving student life and curriculum advancement, serving as the student body AAMC Organization of Student Representatives Primary Representative, organizing a Professionalism and Development Conference with the Women in Science and Medicine institutional committee, and founding the Urology Interest Group and Sexual Medicine and Reproductive Health Interest Group. In her free time, Loren enjoys filling her U.S. National Parks passport, making art, gardening, and traveling to explore different cultures and cuisines.
