Harvard Medical School
Maheetha Bharadwaj is a current fourth year medical school student at Harvard Medical School. Before medical school, she obtained her Bachelors in Biology and Masters in Bioinformatics from Stanford University. She pursued a Masters of Philosophy in Genomic Medicine from the University of Cambridge through the Bill and Melinda Gates scholarship. During medical school, she fell in love with urology as a second year student, when she watched three kidney stones removed from patients who felt immediate relief. The fast-paced nature of the field, use of robotics, ability to offer life-saving treatments, and humor of the people in the field compelled her to apply into the field. Her major research interests include cancer genomics and health equity, both of which she hopes to continue as a urology resident at the University of Washington in Seattle. She hopes to pursue fellowship in either oncology or kidney transplant. Outside of academics, Maheetha is passionate dancer. She has been on numerous dance teams, and founded a workshop series to bridge her Indian and western dance backgrounds.
