Carmen Tong, DO, is a pediatric urologist and director of pediatric robotic surgery at Children’s
of Alabama. Dr. Tong completed dual bachelor of science and bachelor of music performance
degrees from McGill University in Montreal prior to obtaining her medical degree at Arizona
College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed her urology residency at Einstein
Healthcare Network in Philadelphia. She went on to receive fellowship training in pediatric
urology at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Dr. Tong’s clinical practice and research is dedicated to spina bifida, hypospadias, urinary tract
reconstruction and minimally invasive surgery in children. She is a member of the Urology Care
Foundation Technology & Publications Committee, The AAP Surgical Advisory Panel Rural
Health Workgroup, Societies for Pediatric Urology Social Media Task Force, and the American
College of Surgeons NSQIP-Pediatric Specialty Advisory Council for Pediatric Urology.
She currently is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
