Taku Naiki, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the department of Nephro-urology, Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences.
As a lead investigator in his department at Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Dr Naiki have been dedicating his time to urological cancer research both for clinical and basic points of view. In April 2008, he started basic research on urological cancer using experimental animal model. As a graduate student, he established a new castration-resistant prostate cancer animal model reflecting clinical cases, and explored a new mechanisms of cancer proliferation based on the gene microarray analyses. In addition, Dr Naiki found some flavonoid could prevent castration resistant prostate cancer development. While continuing basic research, he also pursues his interest in translational research based on the results using animal models. His research goal is not only to find reliable, better treatment of the disease, but also elucidating its pathogenesis for a better understand of the ultimate cure of the disease.
In his current practice as a urologist subspecializing in endoscopic surgery including robot-assisted surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and in precise prostate needle biopsy method using MRI-TRUS fusion system. Especially, he is working on the development of a new technique for performing prostate cancer targeting therapy using MRI-TRUS fusion system. Dr Naiki also dedicate his time to translational research for better understanding and finding a novel treatment of prostate cancer.
