Sumedha Chhatre, PhD is a Research Assistant Professor of Community Health in the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine. Her research focuses on two broad areas: the intersection of physical and mental health among persons with HIV and cancers; and preference assessment and patient-centered care interventions to improve quality of care. Dr. Chhatre conducts clinical trials, prospective studies, and secondary data analysis to study important questions related to mental health, substance abuse (including opioids), HIV, and cancers, and their health outcomes, including disparities. Her expertise is in the use of Medicare, SEER-Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans Health Administration data. Dr. Chhatre is also actively involved in the development of decision-aids for preference assessment intervention and their implications for patient-centered care.
