Dzhuliyan (Jay) Vasilev, B.S. is a second-year medical student at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Scottsdale, AZ. Vasilev graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and an emphasis in Engineering Mathematics. While at Saint Louis
University he conducted research in the spheres of soft tissue engineering and microfluidics, in addition to founding the Engineering Health Collaborative, an organization focused on the development of low-cost medical devices for medically underserved countries. He was also a pre-medical fellow with the Atlantis Project in Athens, Greece, and worked on a new entrepreneurial venture to develop a novel preventative medical device for catheter-associated urinary tract infections. He later served as a Fulbright Scholar at the Medical University of Warsaw in Poland and worked in the biomedical startup sphere in Paris, France. He has a particular interest in merging the fields of engineering, medicine, and entrepreneurship as well as innovation in medical education. His current interests in urology include genitourinary reconstruction and female pelvic medicine.
