Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
Dr. Trock was born in Detroit, Michigan (his continued cheering for Detroit teams is proof of his unfailing optimism). He received his BS and MPH degrees from the University of Michigan, and PhD in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Trock has more than 35 years experience in cancer research. He holds the Frank Hinman Jr. Endowed Professorship in the Department of Urology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and is Director of the Urology Division of Epidemiology. He also holds joint appointments in the Departments of Oncology and Epidemiology. He is also the Director of the Biostatics Core for the Johns Hopkins Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) in Prostate Cancer. Prior to Johns Hopkins he was a tenured Associate Professor at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Cancer Center.
Dr. Trock’s research goal is the use of biomarkers to better understand prostate cancer etiology, and to advance a precision medicine approach to prostate cancer prognosis and predicting response to therapies. His academic contributions bridge epidemiology, biostatistics, basic sciences, and clinical trials, with a clear translational focus. Outside of work he plays guitar, and also enjoys bicycling, and backpacking.
