Dr Raj Tiwari is currently serving as a consultant urologist at Sengkang General Hospital Singapore. He graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2009. Subsequently he attained Membership of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2012. He completed 6 years urology residency training at Singapore General Hospital (Singhealth) in 2018 and in his final year of training he was selected for the Singhealth Residency Leadership Program where he was awarded the Outstanding Chief Residents’ Award as one of the best performers in the course.
Raj was awarded the College of Surgeons Gold Medal in Urology for his performance in the urology exit examinations 2018. On completing his residency training he was admitted to both the Academy of Medicine Singapore and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (Urology) as a fellow. He is also a full member of the Singapore Urological Association. His sub-speciality interests include urologic oncology and benign prostate hyperplasia.
In his academic teaching career, Raj teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and is currently appointed as clinical assistant professor at Duke NUS Graduate Medical school.Raj has 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has won several research awards including best abstracts at Urological Association of Asia meeting 2017, Junior EAU ERUS meeting 2017, SIU meeting 2018 and Urofair 2019. He was awarded the Singhealth Publish award in 2020 and also received the Sengkang General Hospital Sparkle Gold Award for outstanding patient care in 2021.
He is currently undergoing a 2 year Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship in Uro-Oncology at the University of Toronto, Canada co-funded by the SUO and Ministry of Health Singapore Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP).
