Erica Huang is a current clinical research coordinator, and recently graduated with her Masters of Science in Biomedical and Translational Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. Her work focuses on longitudinal management of prostate cancer following biochemical recurrence post-radical prostatectomy. Erica studied biological sciences at Wellesley College, where she was involved with ecosystems research that gave her a broad understanding of complex relationships within a biosphere, informing her decision to pursue medicine in the context of clinical research. Erica completed her masters thesis on management of prostate cancer biochemical recurrences with active observation following radical prostatectomy. Erica is deeply interested in the intersection of clinical practice and research, especially in application and integration of clinical research findings into current practices. As the primary clinical research coordinator to a world-renowned prostate cancer surgeon and oncologist, Erica has had the privilege of participating in multiple large-scale studies evaluating outcomes and management following radical prostatectomy. She manages a large 13-member research team, consisting of undergraduate, post-undergraduate, medical student, and resident physician researchers, and currently manages more than five IRB protocols including industry studies. Erica will be attending medical school beginning fall 2022 to further pursue her aspirations of becoming a physician-researcher.
