Masatomo Kaneko, MD, PhD is a Research Scholar of Department of Urology at University of Southern California.
He earned his 6-year medical degree, received PhD from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, and engaged 7-year urology practice as a board-certified urologist in Japan.
He then moved to the United States to be a research scholar for 2 years at the USC Institute of Urology. As a research scholar, his contribution has been significant in the research regarding optimized prostate biopsy and focal therapy for prostate cancer.
His clinical and research interest focuses specifically on precision medicine using MRI/ultrasound fusion biopsy, artificial intelligence (AI), and focal therapy for prostate cancer. Dr. Kaneko pioneered AI in the field of urology and new focal therapy technologies including microwave ablation for prostate cancer, and authored peer-reviewed publications focusing on AI and microwave ablation. He serves as a reviewer for several journals in the field of urology.
