Dr. Stephen B. Williams is the Robert Earl Cone Tenured Professor and Chief for the Division of Urology, Director of Urologic Oncology, Director of Urologic Research, and Co-Director for the Department of Surgery Clinical Outcomes Research Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Williams is also the Associate Chief Medical Officer, UTMB Clear Lake and Medical Director for High-Value Care for UTMB Health System. He completed Urology residency at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital followed by a Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has a Master’s in Clinical Science/Health Services Research, Master’s in Business Administration with emphasis in Health Care Administration, and a Yellow Belt in Lean/Six Sigma. Dr. Williams is currently a member of many national societies and serves on the board of numerous societies and journals. He is the author of over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters dedicated to value based care, urologic oncology, and health services research. Dr. Williams has made a significant impact on urology through his seminal research in comparative effectiveness regarding bladder cancer treatments and value-based care. He has previously been invited to present his work at the Institute of Medicine in Washington, DC to help guide health policy decision-making and research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense.
